It has been almost two weeks since I have written an update on my health journey. I caught the flu/cold the past week and it has been hard to do anything other than my regular routine – go to work, cook, clean, sleep and repeat. Isn’t it ironic that I got sick one week into my resolution?
Honestly, I haven’t worked out in the past weeks. The energy and motivation was not there at all. I was just too sick to to get up earlier than I normally do just to work out. I wanted to sleep more and relax so that I could get better and get back on to my regular programming. Although I didn’t do any workouts, I did manage to eat well during the past few weeks. It wasn’t my regular salads and chicken breast because I wasn’t feeling up for that. When I am sick, I want something warm and soothing so I opted out for a more easier to swallow food such as congee and soup. I jam packed the soup and congee with vegetables such as spinach and ginger to help with my sore throat.
I am almost at 100% and cannot wait to go back on track with the workouts. I got the eating part down but working out, not so much. My main goal this week is to get back on track with my daily workouts. I know it will be challenging but I will try my best to do so.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Monday!

It is finally Friday. I thought this work week will never end – I only worked two days but it felt like eternity. I am totally pooped and just ready to get on with the weekend and catch up with my sleep. I usually get 8 hours of sleep everyday but I recently haven’t because of all the festivities that were going on during the past few weeks. I am having a really though time getting back into my regular routine and I hope it happens sooner than later because I hate feeling this way.
Exhaustion has been a real big problem for me these past couple of days. I just don’t feel like doing anything physical. I ALMOST didn’t do my workout today and the only reason why I did is because of my little one. She asked me if we can workout together (how can I say no to that?). She copies all the moves I do and has her own little “mat” beside mine.
Since I will be back to my regular routine next week, I’ve decided to write a weekly journal instead of posting daily journals. I doubt that you folks would like to hear the same thing over and over again – I will save you from that misery. I am going to be posting one journal each week highlighting the good, bad and the ugly. But if you are really curious to see what goes on behind the screen, then follow me on Instagram.
I am officially going to make Thursdays my rest day. It is one of my longer days at work and today just felt extra long – first day back after the holidays always do. I really thought that I could do it and push myself to workout today but I couldn’t. I was just too exhausted both physically and mentally. All I wanted to was to come home, relax and spend time with my family. Also, to top it off, I got my period so I was totally not feeling 100%.
I have to admit that I was quite disappointed at myself for not sticking to my plan today to workout after work. BUT, the exhaustion just really got to me and I wanted to focus the little energy I had left towards my little one.
Although I didn’t work out today, I did manage to resist eating the leftover holiday sweets at work. It was a real challenge because I LOVE sweets and it is also my time of the month which definitely increased that craving. It gave me affirmation that if I can say ‘no’ today then I can do so tomorrow and the next day and so on.

I have to admit that I had zero motivation to do anything physical today. I am not quite sure if it was because I am going back to work tomorrow or I was just too sore from the workout I did yesterday – a 6 minute moderately intense benchmark workout from the Nike Training app. The workout consisted of push-ups, squats, lunges and jumping jacks which is done in intervals. The average time to do the benchmark is 6 minutes and I finished at 6 minutes and 10 second which shows that I really gave it my 100%.
It was quite a struggle for me to do anything today but I am glad I did. I had to really talk myself into doing some form of physical activity. I chose something that is not as intense as yesterday’s workout because my muscles are screaming. I went for a 7 minute yoga session. I felt relaxed and I didn’t feel that it was too hard on my already sore muscles.
Tomorrow will be a different day and I hope I have a lot more motivation than I did today.

Happy New Year! I hope all of you kick started 2019 by having a fantastic day with your family and friends. This is the year where I will truly try my best to be a better version of myself. Last year was pretty rocky for me in terms of my health and it negatively affected my family and work. So this year, my focus is on my health. I honestly never knew that it impacted those around me in that way until I did some reflecting over the past couple of days.
I am going to work on these three things to improve my health:
1. Exercise more frequently
2. Eat a healthier diet
3. Reduce my amount of screen time per day – this does not mean that I will be posting
less. I just need to better manage my time to ensure that I am not on the computer
or my phone the whole day.
These things are a lot easier said than done, so to keep me in check I will write a daily journal on here about my progress.

Today is officially the start of my holidays. I am lucky to have a week off during the busiest time of the year, Christmas. To kick it off, I made a To-Do list. My life has been hectically busy ever since I moved out and making a list really keeps me on track and in check. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and ensures that I get things done in a good timely manner.
Now that Christmas is just around the corner, this list is very ever so important to me. I moved out in the beginning of December and have been busy unpacking and getting things together in the house. So, I have kind of swept Christmas preperations under the rug. I haven’t really done much for the season, heck I do not even have a Christmas tree. So I am investing my time this weekend to get prepared for this wonderful holiday and in order to do so, I have compiled a list of things to do.
Here is a glimpse of my ‘Let’s get prepared for Christmas’ list:

Hello everyone! I sincerely apologize for the unannounced hiatus. It has been way too long since I have written a post. I have been meaning to go on and tell all of you about my vacation in August, but some unforeseen events happened right after I got back from California. Now that everything has seem to stabilize (crossing my fingers), I will get back into posting and reading all of your blogs.
In case you are wondering, here is a quick snippet of what happened:
1. Hospitalized for a week due to gallstones.
3. Moved out of my parents house
I will definitely write about each one of these events in detail, so stay tuned. If you would like to get more updates or just like to see what goes on in my life when I am not behind a computer, then follow me on instagram. I often post stories on there.

If you are not following me on instagram then this will be new news for you. I got contact lenses! I have contemplated about getting them for months now and I am glad that I finally did.
To be honest, the main reason why I got contact lenses is because I really do not want to live through another summer with foggy glasses. I am not sure if this happens to anybody else but, whenever I get hot, my glasses fogs up which is annoying and slightly embarrassing – I really do not want to deal with that this summer so… contact lenses is my solution to that problem.

Welcome to another “Food Sunday”. Today’s topic is Vietnamese Noodle Soup. Call me ignorant, but, I had no idea that there were so many different types of noodle soups other than phở . For those of you who are not familiar with pho, it is a bowl of noodles in a beef broth that have been simmered with spices for hours and is served with different cuts of meats and side toppings such as, bean sprouts, chiles, lime and different types of herbs which are all optional.
I was introduced to Vietnamese cuisine at a very young age and at that time the restaurants only offered phở and a few different rice dishes. I remember that my parents would take my siblings and I to eat phở on those cold fall and winter months and it would be the best thing ever! Since then, my love for Vietnamese cuisine was born.

Lebanese food has easily become one of my favourites. Their food is refreshing and is packed with bold flavours – there is never a boring bite. I was introduced to Lebanese cuisine by my boss and I’ve been hooked ever since then.
