Welcome to another “Food Sunday”. I hope all of you are having/had a wonderful weekend.
There are two things my family and I do every Sunday:
1.) Go to church
2.) Buy freshly baked pandesal
Baby M definitely knows what is coming right after mass because the first thing she talks about when we get out of church is pandesal (makes me kind of wonder if that is all what she thinks about during mass – yikes!)
Welcome back to another “Food Sunday”. To all my Canadian followers, Happy Canada Day! Instead of going out and joining the rest of Canada on their festivities, I decided to stay in and spend some quality time with my little one, which I very much needed after the long week I had. We did a little celebrating of our own by indulging on maple crème cookies and listening to some tunes from one of our favourite Canadian singer, Shawn Mendes.
Welcome to another “Food Sunday” and today I would like to share my all time favourite fruits. Summer has finally arrived and I could have not found a better time to share this with all of you. The following fruits are USUALLY only available during Canada’s summer months – blueberries are available all year round (possible by outsourcing) but the local summer crop is always the best!

For those of you who are not familiar with the term hot pot, it is essentially a way of cooking and eating. A boiling pot of broth (beef, chicken, mushroom, etc.) is placed in the middle of the table and surrounded by thinly sliced meats, seafood and vegetables. Everyone on the table gets to choose whatever they want to eat and cook the item in the boiling broth. A sauce is usually served on the side to dip the cooked items in.

For those of you that are not familiar with almond tofu, it is essentially a jelly made from almond milk, sugar and agar-agar. But since it is not made with gelatin, the texture is much more firm. Traditionally, almond tofu would be made with fresh almond milk, but since I do not have time to do that, I have taken the shortcut by buying packaged almond agar (just like a jello mix). For this particular brand, the jelly is slightly sweet and the almond flavor is very settle.
If you are not following me on instagram then this will be new news for you. I got contact lenses! I have contemplated about getting them for months now and I am glad that I finally did.
To be honest, the main reason why I got contact lenses is because I really do not want to live through another summer with foggy glasses. I am not sure if this happens to anybody else but, whenever I get hot, my glasses fogs up which is annoying and slightly embarrassing – I really do not want to deal with that this summer so… contact lenses is my solution to that problem.

I wrote this around Christmas time last year and have not changed a single thing since then. So.. you will be hearing a little bit of my Christmas tradition on this post. Welcome back to another “Food Sunday”. The days are getting longer and a lot hotter. The weather is reminding me of my motherland, the Philippines. I noticed that I have not put a single post about filipino food which I find kind of strange since I am filipino and I think it is about time that I write one up. So today, I will be talking about my all time favourite FILIPINO dessert (it is not halo-halo) which is *drum roll* Palitaw.
Welcome to another “Food Sunday”. Today’s topic is Vietnamese Noodle Soup. Call me ignorant, but, I had no idea that there were so many different types of noodle soups other than phở . For those of you who are not familiar with pho, it is a bowl of noodles in a beef broth that have been simmered with spices for hours and is served with different cuts of meats and side toppings such as, bean sprouts, chiles, lime and different types of herbs which are all optional.
I was introduced to Vietnamese cuisine at a very young age and at that time the restaurants only offered phở and a few different rice dishes. I remember that my parents would take my siblings and I to eat phở on those cold fall and winter months and it would be the best thing ever! Since then, my love for Vietnamese cuisine was born.
Welcome to another Food Sunday post. Before I get started, I would like to wish all the mothers out there a Happy Mother’s Day. I hope all of you had a wonderful day filled with joy, laughter and lots of food. Today we said goodbye to cloudy and muggy days and welcomed the warm bright sunshine – there was not a cloud in the sky. It was a perfect day to share a frozen treat or two with your mommy.
I did not get to share a frozen treat with my mom OR little one today. BUT, I did take my little one out for gelato the other week (she can’t be having too many treats). My husband suggested to go to La Casa Gelato and so we did. I am always down for a good scoop of ice cream or gelato – anything sweet, really. I have never been to this place so I did not know what to expect. I was quite overwhelmed when I entered the shop because there were SO MANY flavours to choose from. They had your typical vanilla, strawberry and chocolate to something very unfamiliar like basil and sumac which you can have in either a waffle cone, wafer cone, dipped cone or a cup. Fortunately, I was able to try well… almost everything before finally settling down for amaretto and cherry.
