Happy Sunday friends! What a perfect day to finish off my mini series on Oregon. The Grotto, which is formally known as The National Sanctuary of our Sorrowful Mother is located in Portland, Oregon. It is a place where thousands of people come to during easter to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Some may say that Voodoo Doughnut is overrated and I somewhat agree. I came here not because I was dying to try the doughnuts, but because of curiosity. I have seen them on the Food Network a few years back and was quite intrigued with all the cool, fancy and overwhelming looking doughnuts they had. I wanted to know if the doughnuts where as good as shown on T.V.
Oceanside Beach is one of the many beaches in Oregon. It is located west of Portland which is approximately a two hour drive away. If you are visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory , then I highly recommend that you make a pit stop to this location because the scenery is beautiful. In addition, it is only a half an hour drive from the factory, so, why not?
Tillamook is probably one of my favourite locations in Oregon. It has almost everything I could ask for – picturesque pastures, downtown, oceanside and a cheese factory (I LOOOVE cheese). Tillamook is located west of Portland which is about an hour and a half drive. Before you even get to the cheese factory you are visually treated with beautiful farm and mountain views. The route google made us take was through Tillamook National Forest, which has never ending pine trees ( I have never seen that many pine trees all at once in my life).
Multnomah Falls is one of the numerous water falls in Oregon. It is located just about an half an hour drive from Portland. Unfortunately, because of poor planning and research (which is RARE since I do most of that stuff in advance. This location was chosen by one of my family members so he had to do homework on it and NOT me – I really wish I did. Lesson learned DO NOT RELY ON OTHERS) we were not able to make it down the main visitor centre of the waterfalls. There, you can take a closer look at Multnomah Falls cascading down the mountain.
Every year, my family and I pack up our cars and drive down south to Portland, Oregon for a couple of days for religious purposes. In those many years that we have gone, we never once ventured out the city to see what Oregon has to offer. But, this year we changed it up a bit and decided to stay a few more days to explore Oregon. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much since the state have very similar foliage, weather and landscape to British Columbia. So, A LOT of pine trees, mountains and beaches.
I think that sharing some facts about me is a pretty appropriate first post for my transformed blog (confused? check out my ABOUT page). So, lets get started!
